Athens International Airport, also known locally as “Eleftherios Venizelos” Airport, began operations on 29 March 2001 and is the primary civilian airport serving the city of Athens as well as the Attica region. It is Greece’s largest airport and serves as the hub and base of Aegean Airlines and its subsidiary Olympic Air. The airport serves just under 13 million passengers annually.
